I support Native Americans because of their passion, endurance, beautiful souls and great spirit they have. They are amazing people with rich culture that needs to be preserved and protected for them and their generations to come.  I only hope my website will be a small contribution to inspire others to support and love these wonderful people as I do.  I am only one person and this website may or may not make a difference but out of love for My Native Brothers and Sisters I am going to do my best to show them the respect they have always deserved. SCV resident produces and films ‘Yellow Rock’ at Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch
While long-time Santa Clarita Valley resident Daniel Veluzat is generally busy operating the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch for outside film and television productions, from time to time, he also steps into the role of executive producer.

Veluzat said he recently served as executive producer for the film “Yellow Rock,” which garnered recognition for the local movie ranch owner and operator.

Premiering Nov. 1 at the Eighth Annual Red Nation Film Festival at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the film took home awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Picture. 

The award ceremonies were held at the CBS Studios, one of the event sponsors, in Studio City.

“It’s a wonderful Western that brings a Native American feel to the big screen,” Veluzat said. He shares executive producer credits with Steve Doucette.

Based on five men who ride into the eerie town of Yellow Rock, the group hopes to rescue a family member and his lost boy. 

The leader, Max Dietrich, hires mountain man Tom Hanner to guide them into the Black Paw Tribe territory for the search. Hanner agrees on the condition that they receive permission from the tribe to enter their lands.

Once they pass through, the old Indian legend of a curse comes true. Now riddled with the fever for yellow rock, they must fight the haunted lands, wild animals and, eventually, each other in the quest, according to the story.

The production was filmed locally in the old Mexican town at the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch. The movie starred Michael Biehn, James Russo, Lenore Andriel and Eddie Spears. Andriel also wrote the script for the movie.

Other awards that night included special tributes, with The Red Vision award given to Michael Jackson and the Oyate Wayanka Po Life Time Achievement award given to Russell Means. 

Many stories are written, but finding independent financial backing to produce the movies and bring those stories to screen can be difficult.

“Yellow Rock” was one of a number of a movies entered for awards consideration this year, including “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1,” making the three awards for best picture, director and actor even more exciting for producers, such as Veluzat and Doucette.

“It was a great night for the ‘Yellow Rock’ team. I’m very proud to have been a part of such an amazing production team and cast,” Veluzat said.

Studio City plays home to one of the most unusual film festival awards, and recently the winners of the Eighth Annual Red Nation Film Festival  were handed out at the CBS Radford Studios.

The movie Yellow Rock took the top awards about five men who ride into an eerie town to rescue a family member and his lost boy. Then, an old Native American curse comes true.

Other awards that night included special tributes, with The Red Vision award given to Michael Jackson  and the Oyate Wayanka Po Life Time Achievement award given to Russell Means .
